Jacqui Barnes

Aged 48
Being a mature student has been one of the best things I have ever done. I have learned so many new skills and it has renewed my passion for art and Illustration in particular.
I was a Graphic Designer in my twenties until I started a family. I then became self-employed as a mural artist, painting murals in schools and nurseries. I now take commissions for portraits, mainly of pets, which I have been doing for about five years and now alongside my foundation degree.

I work in various mediums, pencil, acrylics, alcohol markers, but my recent love and preferred medium is oil paint. I have also become competent in Photoshop and Indesign while being at Petroc, which are helpful skills to now have for the future.
I am really looking forward to continuing onto the BA Degree course and am hoping during this time to secure a job within the Illustration or Design Industry.
